Principal's Message

Greetings Tiger Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! As we embark on a new academic year, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning students and families. In conjunction with the Volusia County School’s theme for the year, “Empowering a Culture of Excellence,” our theme at Southwestern Middle School will simply be, “Excellence.” Excellence will be on display all day, every day and everything that we do will be done with excellence at Southwestern.

I am committed to ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education and believe that all students are capable of learning and succeeding. Southwestern earned a school grade rating of a “B” for the 2023-2024 school year. The goal is to increase to an “A.” I know that this goal is achievable if we all work together to make it happen.

Students, the expectation is that you will succeed in all that you do and your teachers, staff members, and I will be there to support and encourage you along the way, for I truly believe all students are capable of excelling. Parents, it is my desire to partner with you to ensure that all students reach their fullest potential. To the community, your support and input is welcomed and vital to the continued success of Southwestern. It has been said that it takes a village to raise a child, indeed this is true. Therefore, I invite all stakeholders to become involved in our school.
